Get to Know Me
Hi,
I’m “Jane” I-Chen Liu, mental health therapist and owner of KareKounseling, LLC. I’ve been following all kinds of Youtubers and exercising with them for the past five years, a mom of two kids, an immigrant from Taiwan, a Khaled Hosseini fan, and a dreamer who wish to hop on the airplane to travel abroad again.
Before working for KareKounseling, LLC, I was a counselor for a crisis unit, a youth and family therapist, a chemical dependency counselor, and a case manager/therapist for adults and older adults who were home-bound. With 12 years in the field, I continue to find joy and compassion working in the mental health filed. In recent years, I’ve been focusing on using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, and Eye Movement Desensitizing Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. This year, I am working on finishing Level I and II with the Gottman Institute. I also completed Level I IFS training.
I’m originally from Taiwan, and I’ve been fortunate to have the experience of living both in the East coast for 7 years and now living in the Pacific Northwest for 7 years. I received my MA in Counseling from West Virginia University, and BFA in Communication Arts from Fu-Jen Catholic University, and BA in English from Fu-Jen Catholic University. (Yes, I do enjoy reading Jane Austin. And no…I still have no interest in reading Transcendentalism). In my past life, I thought I would be working in Hollywood or be a hair dresser, and sometimes I still wonder what I want to be when I grow up. The potential just seems so unlimited :)
