Hi there~Thanks for visiting my page.

I'm Jane, and I help adult women who’s been carrying around their family baggage, to break free, and to live their full potential.

My clients struggle like you do. Despite being independent, resilient, and using humor at all the right time to cope, life is hard.  When they first come in, they are so frustrated with how their negative childhood experiences STILL impacting their daily life.  They are noticing how they are bringing their unresolved childhood issues into their current relationships.  They are distraught by daily negative thinking that are damaging their self-esteem.  They are having anxiety, difficult with concentration, and trouble sleeping.  Their friendship, romantic relationship, and work relationship are all being affected. They are afraid of losing these relationships. They are overwhelmed, stress, and on the edge of falling apart.

Their anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma consume their lives.  They aren’t the kind of successful people they want to be. They feel like they’re disappointing themselves.  And their confidence with life is tanking.

Before they come to see me, they’ve been emotionally isolated for a long time and they’ve been trying to do everything themselves.  They worried they would never get the help they need.  They didn’t want to be a burden.  And they were pretty certain that being vulnerable and open up might get themselves hurt.  It’s too scary.

Like my clients, you deserve to break free from your past, not live in fear, and live your full potential.  Being able to just accept yourself, be yourself, live with peace, and having a deep sense of self-compassion is not out of your reach.  If you want to resolve your trauma, accept yourself, and learn to live with peace and love, I’d love to help you get there.

Email me now.  You don’t have to struggle.  I can help.  karekounseling@gmail.com

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kind of clients do you usually work with?
I work with adults and the geriatric population.  Most of my clients are in their 20s and 30s, struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, job transitions, relationship issues, un-expected events that come up and are having a hard time adjusting. I am using EMDR and IFS therapy primarily.

2.What is your experience?
I graduated with a master degree in Counseling from West Virginia University in 2009.  At first, I was a crisis counselor, who would answer the suicide hotline, providing individual and group therapy who are going through crisis and detox.  Then I landed a job at a Youth Center, providing therapy for young children, adolescents, and their families. I did that for two years and it was heart-breaking, to have to see the abuse children were going through and not having power to change the environments or the system.  So, I ended up working with the adult population.  This time, as a chemical dependency counselor, where I would provide outpatient individual therapy, and therapy for people who were in the 28-day program, and the 3-month program afterwards.  In the past seven years, I’ve been working with adults and older adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, PTSD, and chronic medical issues.  Now you know why I would often just say I have a well-rounded experience :)

3. How will we measure progress?
I use a variety of assessments tools, as well as asking you directly.

4. Have you been in therapy before?

Yes, I have been in therapy myself and still am. I value the experience and always strive for self-growth.

5. How should I communicate if something isn’t working for me?
Please let me know so I can make necessary changes.  If after two or three sessions, you still feel it’s not a good match.  It’s perfectly ok.  I am happy to refer you to better fitted therapists.  And I understand that these things happen.

6. What cultural competence or anti-racism trainings have you taken?

I took cultural competency classes, attended LGBTQ seminar, and continue to read literatures to make sure I can provide quality care. I recently finished reading “So You Want to Talk About Race” by Ijeoma Olue and I recommend it.  This book really helps me continually examine my own privilege, biases, and values.

7. What is your cancellation policy?
Please contact me 24 hours a head of time to let me know.  Right now, I do not charge a cancellation fee.

8. How often will we meet?
I meet with most of my clients every other week.  I also have some clients need to meet weekly and some only meet once a month.

9. How can I get in touch with you between sessions?
Emails are the best way to contact me: karekounseling@gmail.com.  However, if you are in a emergency, please call 911 or the crisis line.

10. What will we do if I feel stuck in therapy?

Let reassess.  We might be focusing on the wrong target. We might need to give it more time and investment before behavior change happens. We might need to talk about seeing another specialist. This will be a collaborative relationship, and we can figure out together.

11.How much do you charge? What insurance do you take?

I am charging $225 per session, which typically last 45 to 55 minutes. I do bill insurances, including Aetna, Premera, Regence, First Choice, Cigna, and Lifewise. In that case, all you have to do is to find out how much your deduct able is, and pay the copay.

12. Do you have an in person office?

No. All sessions will be conducted online via video sessions.

13. Do you see kids, teenagers, or do couple therapy?
I only see adults and only provide individual therapy sessions.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.
