Healing Childhood Wounds,
One Brave Step at a Time
Therapy for adult women navigating trauma, emotionally immature parents, and the journey back to self.
Are you still carrying the pain of a childhood where your needs were ignored, your voice silenced, or your boundaries crossed?
Do your parents still withhold validation — making you feel like you're never enough, no matter how hard you try?
Do you quietly sacrifice your own needs to keep the peace, even when it hurts?
Are you holding in a lifetime of anger, terrified that if you let it out, everything might unravel?
Have anxiety, depression, or body shame become constant companions — no matter how much healing work you’ve already done?
If any of this feels familiar, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to keep surviving this way.
At KareKounseling PLLC, I help adults heal from deep-rooted trauma, navigate painful family dynamics, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that have been hidden or hurt. Whether you’re seeking weekly therapy or an EMDR Intensive, we’ll create a space where all of you is welcome — especially the parts that feel messy, afraid, or too much.
Healing is possible. And it starts here.
I help adult women who’ve been carrying around their family baggage to break free and live their full potential.
Through in-depth therapy, I support women who’ve experienced trauma, anxiety, and complex family dynamics to reconnect with their inner child, build emotional capacity, and find freedom from the things that once haunted them!!
Clients often tell me they appreciate how I gently help them go deeper, notice their bodies, and work through patterns they’ve carried for years. I integrate EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Somatic Experiencing with a culturally attuned, grounded presence—so they can feel FREE! Lear more about me here.
Give yourself a chance to feel FREE
(You don’t have to keep carrying what was never yours to begin with.)
🌿My clients struggle like you do.
Despite being independent, resilient, and using humor at all the right times to cope, life is hard. When they first come in, they are so frustrated with how their negative childhood experiences STILL impact their daily life. They are noticing how they are bringing their unresolved childhood issues into their current relationships. They are distraught by daily inner criticism that is damaging their self-esteem. They are having anxiety, difficulty concentration, and trouble sleeping. Their friendship, romantic relationship, and work relationship are all being affected. They are afraid of losing these relationships, and yet feel so lonely inside. They are overwhelmed, stressed, and on the edge of falling apart.
Their anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma consumes their lives. They aren’t the kind of successful people they want to be. They feel like they’re disappointing themselves. And their confidence in life is tanking.
Before they come to see me, they’ve been emotionally isolated for a long time and they’ve been trying to do everything themselves. They worried they would never get the help they needed. They didn’t want to be a burden. And they were pretty certain that being vulnerable and open up might get themselves hurt. It’s too scary.
Like my clients, you deserve to break free from your past, not live in fear, and live your full potential. Being able to just accept yourself, be yourself, live with peace, and have a deep sense of self-compassion is not out of your reach. If you want to resolve your trauma, accept yourself, and learn to live with peace and love, I’d love to help you get there.
Email me now. You don’t have to struggle. I can help. I’m a trauma therapist in Washington specializing in helping women heal from childhood trauma, emotional abuse, and complex family dynamics.” karekounseling@gmail.com

Getting Started: What Happens Before the First Session?
-
The first step is to send me an email through my website. I personally respond to all inquiries within 24 business hours. From there, we’ll schedule a free 20-minute consultation call to see if we’re a good fit.
-
This is a no-pressure, no-obligation conversation. I’ll ask a few questions about what you’re hoping to work on and the kind of change you’re seeking. You’re also welcome to ask me anything — this is your time to get a feel for whether my approach resonates with you.
I’ll also use this time to assess whether I have the expertise and experience to support your specific needs. On occasion, I may determine that I’m not the best fit for your goals — not because your concerns aren't important, but because I want to ensure you receive the most effective care possible. If that’s the case, I’ll do my best to refer you to a provider who may be better suited.
My priority is to respect your time and help you get the support you truly need.
-
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic health record system that’s simple and user-friendly. You’ll receive a welcome email with links to complete your intake paperwork online. I do require a credit card to be kept on file for payment.
-
You’ll receive a private, secure video link before each session. All you need is a stable internet connection, a private and quiet space, and maybe a cozy blanket or pillow if that helps you feel grounded. 😊
FAQs
-
I work with adults, range from age from their early 30s to their early 60s. Most of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, issues with their family of origin, job transitions, relationship issues, un-expected events that come up and are having a hard time adjusting.
-
I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from West Virginia University in 2009. I began my career as a crisis counselor, answering suicide hotline calls and providing individual and group therapy for people in crisis or going through detox. Later, I worked at a Youth Center, offering therapy to young children, adolescents, and their families. I did this for two years—it was heartbreaking to witness the abuse many children were experiencing, especially knowing I didn’t have the power to change their environments or the system around them. Eventually, I transitioned to working with adults, this time as a chemical dependency counselor. I provided outpatient individual therapy as well as therapy for individuals in a 28-day treatment program and a follow-up 3-month program.
From 2016 to 2020, I worked with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, PTSD, complex PTSD, and chronic medical conditions. I also gained extensive experience supporting people navigating dementia, end-of-life concerns, death with dignity, and the emotional challenges of hiring caregivers or transitioning into adult family homes or assisted living facilities.
In 2020, I started my private practice, focusing on working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, CPTSD, and issues with their original family. Since then, I noticed my clients doing better by being able to heal their inner child, increase their capacity to cope with difficult emotions, be able to view their trauma from the distance, and able to cope and communicate their needs better. I use EMDR therapy, IFS therapy, and Somatic Experiencing as my main modalities to help my clients.

I use a variety of assessments tools, as well as asking you directly.
-
Yes, I have been in therapy myself and still am. I value the experience and always strive for self-growth.
-
Please let me know so I can make necessary changes. If after two or three sessions, you still feel it’s not a good match. It’s perfectly ok. I am happy to refer you to better fitted therapists. And I understand that these things happen. description
-
I deeply value each person’s unique lived experience and cultural identity. I strive to approach every client with curiosity, humility, and respect. Rather than relying on generalizations, I listen closely and honor the specific ways culture, identity, and community shape a client’s story.
I’ve taken courses in cultural competence and LGBTQ+ mental health, and I continue to read, reflect, and learn so that I can provide affirming, responsive care. For me, this is lifelong work—staying present, open, and committed to creating a safe space where all parts of you are welcome.
-
For individual therapy, please contact me 24 hours ahead of time to let me know. Right now, I do not charge a cancellation fee.
Because EMDR intensives require me to block out significant time in advance, I ask for at least two weeks' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than two weeks’ notice are non-refundable, and you will be responsible for the full cost of the intensive.
-
To start, I meet with most of my clients every week. I also have some clients need to meet every other week and some only meet once a month when they are doing better.
For EMDR + IFS intensive, the structure is different. Please contact me directly to learn more. -
Emails are the best way to contact me: karekounseling@gmail.com. However, if you are in an emergency, please call 911 or the crisis line.
-
Let reassess. We might be focusing on the wrong target. We might need to give it more time and different approaches before changes happen. We might need to talk about seeing another specialist. This will be a collaborative relationship, and we can figure it out together.
-
EMDR intensives are priced differently based on length and format. Please visit the EMDR Intensive page for full details.
My fee is $200 per 50-minute session.
I specialize in depth work with clients navigating trauma, inner child healing, and attachment wounds. I integrate EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing to support lasting healing. I’ve found that showing up fully—both for my clients and for myself—requires that I maintain a sustainable, grounded practice.I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for current or established clients during times of financial transition. Please feel free to reach out if you’d like to inquire about availability.
I am currently in-network with Premera, First Choice, and LifeWise.I am in the process of phasing out of Regence, Cigna, and Aetna. If you are currently using one of these plans, I will notify you well in advance of any changes and offer support through the transition.
If I’m not in-network with your insurance, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt) for possible reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. Every plan is different, so I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask:
Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
How much will I be reimbursed per session with a licensed therapist?
Good Faith Estimate (for Private Pay Clients)
In accordance with the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of therapy services. This will be provided at the start of treatment.
If you are curious why I am transitioning from insurance to private pay, you can read more about it here.
-
No. All sessions will be conducted online via video sessions.
