Since the Accident, Have You Noticed...

  • Gripping the wheel, checking your mirrors over and over, or braking when you don't need to

  • Avoiding I-5, I-405, Highway 99, or the intersection where it happened

  • Feeling panicky in the passenger seat, or not letting anyone else drive

  • Jumping at screeching brakes, horns, or a car pulling up close behind you

  • The moment of impact replaying when you try to sleep

  • Feeling on edge, irritable, or not quite like yourself

  • Telling yourself "I should be over this by now"

These are normal responses to a frightening event. They're also very treatable.

Why the Fear Doesn't Just Fade

During a crash, your brain goes into survival mode. Sometimes the memory gets stored as if the danger is still happening. That's why your body reacts at a green light or a merge, even when your mind knows you're safe.

EMDR helps your brain finish processing the memory. It doesn't erase what happened. It helps the memory feel like something in the past, so your body can stop bracing for it.

Why an Intensive Works Well After an Accident

A single event like a car accident is often a strong fit for EMDR. Many people need fewer hours than they would for long-term or childhood trauma.

An intensive lets us work through the whole experience in one focused stretch, instead of reopening the crash week after week. Many people with a single accident start with the Half-Day Intensive. We'll decide together based on what you need.

What We Work On

  1. The accident itself. The moments before, the impact, and what came right after.

  2. The aftermath. The ER, police reports, insurance calls, injuries, or a car you lost. These can be just as stressful as the crash.

  3. Today's triggers. The roads, sounds, and situations that set off your alarm now.

  4. The road ahead. We rehearse future situations, like merging onto the freeway or driving your old route, so your body can practice feeling calm before you get behind the wheel.

Sometimes an accident stirs up older trauma or a long-standing feeling of not being safe. If that's part of your story, we can include it. Learn more about intensives for complex trauma.

Can't Face the Drive to Therapy? Start From Home.

If driving is part of what feels hard right now, you can do your entire intensive online from home, anywhere in Washington or California. You'll need a private, quiet space, a reliable internet connection, and headphones.

Why Work with Me?

Hi, I’m Jane.
Offering EMDR intensives has changed how I see healing. Again and again, I’ve watched clients leave an intensive no longer carrying their trauma with the same weight they’d carried for 10, 20, even 30 years. The memory is still there. It just doesn’t run their life anymore.

Everyone’s path is different, but seeing that kind of relief is why I do this work. I want more people to experience it.

When you work with me, you can expect:

  • 17 years of trauma experience. I’ve walked alongside clients through childhood trauma, CPTSD, sexual and medical trauma, and the quiet weight of shame.

  • An approach that reaches the body, not just the mind. I combine EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and attachment repair, so healing goes deeper than insight alone.

  • A pace that respects your nervous system. We go as deep as your body is ready for, never faster.

  • Care that honors your whole story. As a BIPOC, culturally responsive therapist, I make room for the personal, family, and cultural layers of what you carry.

  • A true partnership. You’re the expert on your life. We decide together what to focus on and how.

You’ve already taken a brave step by being here. Let’s take the next one together.

Questions About EMDR After a Car Accident

How soon after an accident can I do EMDR? There's no fixed rule. Some people come weeks after, others years later. It's best once you're medically stable and out of immediate crisis. We'll talk about timing during your consultation.

My accident was years ago. Is it too late? No. EMDR can help with accident memories that are months or decades old.

I had a concussion or I'm still in pain. Can I still do this? If you had a head injury, I will need clarences from your doctor first.

Do I have to describe the crash in detail? No. EMDR doesn't require you to retell the whole story out loud.

Will auto insurance pay for this? No. I don't bill auto or health insurance or provide superbills for intensives. You can pay with an HSA or FSA card, and I'll give you a receipt you can use for HSA or FSA reimbursement.

I have a personal injury claim. Should I tell my attorney? Yes, it's a good idea to let your attorney know you're starting therapy. Therapy records can sometimes be requested in legal cases.
